HAZARDOUS & NON-HAZ CHEMICALS

Hazardous & Non-Haz Chemicals

Tucker Company Worldwide has provided highly reliable and competitively priced truckload, partial truckload and LTL freight services to the chemical industry for nearly 50 years. Our customers include world leaders in the marketing, manufacturing and distributing of chemicals.

Highly Responsive Service

Nearly every business day since our start, Tucker Company Worldwide has met and exceeded the delicate and often demanding requirements of the chemicals industry We stay in regular communication with carrier drivers, dispatch, carrier web sites and our shippers and receivers while shipments are in route. Our proven ability to provide customers with the right equipment even during the recent capacity starved years, helped make Tucker Company Worldwide one of the best freight services available.

Haz-Mat Capacity Will Continue to Evaporate

Since 9/11, the number of carriers who handle Haz-Mat shipments has been decimated. Large, medium and small trucking companies abandoned this segment of industry due to the skyrocketing cost of insurance and the difficult new, constantly changing regulations. As capacity continues to disappear, Tucker has been challenged but we remain able to supply reliable capacity to our chemicals customers.

We Know Security

Money, military cargo and pharmaceuticals—we arrange freight services for them all. Today, cargo security is possibly the hottest issue relating to chemical shipping today. Tucker handles world class multi-million dollar pharmaceutical truckloads, is U. S. Defense Department approved to haul military freight to and from nearly every military installation in the U. S., and we are U. S. Treasury approved and have a long history of moving United States currency from U. S. Mints.

But how do we handle freight issues relating to security? Basically, we do whatever our customers request us to do. Every customer is different, with very different requirements. Every shipper of sensitive cargo has its own risk management requirements, like each type of customer mentioned above.

Most security sensitive customers require us to provide a variety of documentation on any carrier we utilize. Once Tucker qualifies a carrier, sometimes a customer does its own research and authorizes that carrier for our use. Some customers will provide Tucker with a checklist of carrier needs including authority, insurance, DOT safety ratings, SafeStat scores (if fully functioning), a completed safety questionnaire, driver background checks, or even a “Site Access Agreement” the carrier must agree to and sign prior to entering any sensitive facility, etc.

The point is, in addition to Tucker’s own scrutiny of carriers, which we believe to be best in class, we perform any additional screening and/or ongoing qualification that our customers demand.

Please review our information pages entitled “Insurance & Risk Management” and “Responsive Carriers” for a detailed discussion on our carrier selection procedures.

Hazardous Materials and Post 9/11 Security

Heightened security measures are more important than ever. Tucker Company Worldwide effectively handles many hazardous materials including corrosives and flammables. As with your non-hazardous shipments, your firm may be more protected when dealing with Tucker Company Worldwide, since we perform our own carrier qualification process, we monitor carrier performance across our spectrum of customers and we carefully manage freight performance and trace shipments regularly.

In addition to the extensive support our system provides, your customer service coordinators here at Tucker Company Worldwide are experienced freight professionals averaging over 13 years of service at Tucker. Our leading operations managers average over 20 years of service. As a freight broker/freight managing 3PL (neither owning freight, possessing freight or preparing shipping documents, etc.,), the U. S. Department of Transportation regulations relating to hazardous materials handling and training do not apply to us. Nevertheless, for educational purposes we obtained haz-mat certification and training for nearly all of our salespeople and customer service coordinators.

Some of our chemicals customers request monthly spreadsheets for every carrier we utilize on their freight that month, showing U.S. DOT safety ratings and insurance information. We can meet most any need.
